Pierce was born on October 13, 1977 in Oakland, California, USA, nicknamed "Truth". He was selected by the Celtics with the 10th overall pick in the first round of the 1998 NBA draft. He has played for the Celtics, Nets, Wizards and Clippers in his career. Pierce was selected to the All-Rookie First Team in the 1998-99 season. He won the NBA championship with the Celtics in the 2007-08 season and was elected Finals MVP. He was selected to the All-NBA Second Team in the 2008-09 season. He won the All-Star Three-Point Shootout Contest in 2010 and was selected to the NBA All-Star Team 10 times.

On July 18, 2017, Pierce announced his retirement. On February 12, 2018, the Celtics retired Pierce's No. 34 jersey. On May 17, 2021, Pierce was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame. In October of the same year, Pierce was selected as one of the NBA's 75 Greatest Stars.

Paul Pierce played a total of 1,343 regular season games in his career, averaging 19.7 points, 5.6 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game. Played in 170 playoff games, averaging 18.7 points, 5.8 rebounds and 3.4 assists per game.
