According to Heat team reporter Zachary Weinberger, Powell underwent an MRI and was found to have a groin strain. There is currently no timetable for his return.

So far this season, Powell has played 14 games on behalf of the Heat, averaging 25.4 points, 3.9 rebounds, 2.4 assists and 1.3 steals per game. He was nominated for both the Best of the Week and the MVP list.
