Meiji: Some teams will test on the edge of the rules in small scale. It is the first time that Xiaoka is so exaggerated
The Ringer reporter Howard Beck wrote an article reporting on the league's insider's reaction to Clippers star Leonard's alleged signing of a Yin-Yang contract to evade the salary cap.
It is reported that in the past two decades, many celebrity players have signed contracts below market prices, which has aroused many doubts. But several team executives said not everyone is getting as much as $48 million in an additional deal with fake endorsement contracts like Leonard.
It is understood that some small-scale evasion of the salary cap will indeed occur within the alliance. For example, some teams will ask players and agents to exercise early termination of contract options or jump out of the player options and verbally promise future rewards; some players may get the opportunity to use their boss's private jets; and some players will get a free car from local businesses that have business with the team. But none of these are comparable to the false endorsement contracts Leonard has obtained.
A senior team executive said: "This is a conventional tacit understanding, and everyone knows the rules here. But as far as I know, there has never been a situation where someone privately gives players tens of millions of gray income."
