October 23rd, in the opening game of the new season, the 76ers narrowly defeated the Green Army 117-116 away from home.

Edgecomb, the 76ers' top pick, made an explosive debut. He made 13 of 26 shots, 5 of 13 three-pointers, and 3 of 6 free throws. He scored 34 points, 7 rebounds, 3 assists and 1 steal.

This allowed him to surpass Iverson in 1996 (30 points) and set a new record for scoring in the first game of the 76ers team history!
