36-year-old Chilean forward Sanchez was interviewed and talked about the current situation of the Chilean national team and his views on the national team.

How do you evaluate Coach Pellegrini? Do you think he is suitable to coach the Chilean national team?

To me, he is very much like Wenger, who I had the honor of working with when I was at Arsenal. They are football gentlemen who fully understand the sport and the players.

Manuel (Pellegrini) has always been an ideal candidate for the Chilean national team, and so is now. First of all, because we Chilean players are hard to understand, we need a coach who is also Chilean.

What do you think is the reason for the decline in the performance of the Chilean national team in recent years?

I think it's because they don't know how to use the players. From my experience with the national team, they are not putting the players in the right position at the right time. So they changed two or three coaches. For example, they asked me to play No. 6, that was not my position. I've always been used to playing the left winger and cutting inside, but I haven't been able to play there.

Do you have any goals for serving the country?

Of course, that is my country. Few players can maintain high levels in Europe like me, Suao and a few others. As long as I can contribute and physically allow it, I hope to play for the national team all the time. I hope to play in the World Cup with Chile again, that will be 2030, and I will be 42 years old by then. I have to keep myself in good physical and mental state.
