AS: Marca’s Real Madrid and team reporter Jose Felix Diaz becomes the new editor-in-chief of AS

AS has welcomed a new editor-in-chief, Jose Felix Diaz. PRISA Media sports general manager Aloisio Araujo has appointed Jose Felix Diaz as the new editorial director of AS.
Diaz succeeds 63-year-old Vicente Jimenez, who decided to take on a new career challenge after 35 years with PRISA Group. The handover ceremony was held in the editorial office of Aspen. Araujo and Pilar Hill, Vice President of PRISA and CEO of PRISA Media, attended the event.
Jose Felix Diaz has more than 35 years of experience in sports journalism. He worked at Marca for 19 years as head of the sports and football department. From 2009 to 2014, he served as the sports editor of "Confidential", and then returned to "Marca". He has also contributed to various media and sports programs such as Beach Bar, Movistar and TVE.
Diaz told the editorial department: "Some people are familiar with me, and we have spent many working hours together. The real protagonist today is Vicente. Coincidentally, the first time I went abroad to work was with him, in Athens. We are in this long I met him many times throughout his career. Now he is leaving the editorial office of a great journalist and manager.”
Vicente Jiménez joined the PRISA Group in 1990 from “Journal de Catalunya” as a reporter for “El Pais”. He has since held a number of important positions, including editor-in-chief of Aspen. During the years when PRISA was undergoing digital transformation, Jimenez also served as general manager of SER Radio and its music channel, deputy editor-in-chief of El Pais, and New York correspondent of El Pais. Currently distributed in Spain, Mexico, Colombia, Chile and the United States, AS is the leading digital sports newspaper in the Spanish-speaking world.
In his farewell speech, Jimenez said with emotion: "In the past 35 years, I have spent a long time here. For me, this is not a farewell, I am just taking a step back. I will move on, and we will meet again. I hope you invite me to attend the Aspen award ceremony (joking). After so For many years, I just want to say, thank you very much. Lionel Barber, the former editor of the Financial Times, mentioned in his book that when he was appointed editor of the Washington Post, he asked Ben Bradley, the legendary editor of the Washington Post, for advice, and Bradley told him to "walk around the entire newsroom" and warned that "when you are no longer editor." You know how many friends you have. I can definitely say that I have a lot of friends."
Jimenez finally said about his last six years at AS: "I believe we did a lot of great things. COVID-19 and other difficult times...but as my final journey with the group, I couldn't have asked for a better team. It's been a great newsroom and I've always had the support and loyalty from everyone when I was really scared, especially during the pandemic. "Grateful."
Pilar-Hill thanked Vicente Jimenez for his long-term contribution to the Group: "We know you as a talented and charismatic journalist who has been known for your courage and honesty at every stage of this journey."
She outlined. Future goals: “We must become the leading news platform in the Spanish-speaking world, transforming our brand and medium to better serve a wider audience. What you have accomplished over the past few years in terms of traffic, new formats, and more is incredible. I am proud to enter this new phase with you. Aloysio Araujo praised the AS newspaper under the leadership of Vicente Jimenez and its achievements in recent years: "You have left an impressive legacy. Legacy.
