According to the British "Guardian", Amazon will provide real-time data mode for the broadcast of the Champions League this season.

It is reported that Amazon will launch a brand new TV broadcast mode Prime Vision, superimposing data on the screen of real-time games, allowing fans to see additional information such as player names, player running speed, pass distance and even pass selection. This broadcast technology debuted in this round of the Champions League match and was used in Tottenham's match against Villarreal, and will be conducted simultaneously with the traditional game broadcast mode.

Amazon introduces successful experience in the US market, and this technology will revolutionize the football game viewing experience. This broadcasting technology has been successfully used in the US NFL event broadcast for three years, recreating the experience of watching the game from an analyst's perspective through commentary.

Prime Vision captures data points including shooting speed, jump height, and the position of 22 players on the field (shown in the bottom of the screen), including the expected number of goals (xG) per goal chance, a data metric that was introduced to football matches only a decade ago will be at the heart of this new broadcast technology. Amazon has developed its own xG model and designed an algorithm to calculate changes in "game momentum" in the game, another real-time statistic.

Prime Vision was successful in the United States and won the Emmy Award for Outstanding Interactive Experience in 2023; the following year, the audience of NFL events on Amazon increased by 11%. Internal data shows that viewers watching Amazon's NFL events are on average nearly seven years younger than those broadcasting TVs, and on Prime Vision, the audience is almost divided into hardcore NFL fans and people who don't know much about the sport.

Although Amazon's broadcast in the UK sports field is just starting, its program lineup is expanding, and the tech company is able to attract a large audience through its coverage; last season, its four Champions League matches attracted more than 5 million viewers. Andrew Honett, director of live sports production at Prime Video Europe, said Amazon's technical expertise allows it to innovate quickly, saying: "It will take some time for our competitors to reach our level."
