Announcement is as follows:
About a week and a half before the official start of the 2025/26 season, Hamburg continued to strengthen its lineup and signed Valmede Omali. Omari joined Hamburg on loan from Ligue 1 team Rennes. In addition, Hamburg also has the player's buyout rights. Omari successfully passed a medical examination on Wednesday, and then signed his new job contract.
Hamburg Board member Stefan Kunz said: "We are very happy to sign Omari, who has accumulated a lot of experience in Ligue 1 and European competitions. At the same time, he still has development potential. We hope to work with him to further tap these potentials."
Sports Director Klaus Costa said: "Omari is a modern center-back with interesting characteristics: he is fast, skilled, and has good offensive ability. He is smart and brave in defense. With his core abilities, he will make our defense more variable. Although he didn't play much last season, we believe in Omari's ability and are very happy that he can strengthen our team."
Valmede Omari was born on April 23, 2000 in Bandrabois, Mayotte, France's overseas territory. He spent the first few years of his life there, and then moved to France with his family. He began his organized football career in Leglisil, a district in Dijon.
After different youth training stages, Omari joined Rennes' youth training academy at the age of 14. In this club, Omari went through all the youth teams and finally successfully entered the first team. Omari made his Ligue 1 debut against Brest on August 15, 2021. Omari has played 94 official games for Rennes, including 8 Europa League games and 5 Europa League games. In the 2024/25 season, Omari was loaned to Lyon.
Omari said: "I had a great conversation with the club's sports head and coach and felt a lot of respect. Now I'm happy to meet my new teammates and help Hamburg achieve its sports goals."
Omari will wear the No. 17 jersey and set off for training camp in Spain last night. Omari will be there to meet with his new teammates on and off the court immediately.
Welcome, Omali!
