Vidal: Never worked with Chilean players, Pellegrini is not the right choice for the national team coach
As it ranks at the bottom of the World Cup qualifiers, Chile, a traditional South American team, missed the 2026 World Cup. Now, Chile's U20 coach Nicolas Cordoba and Villarreal coach Pellegrini are considered popular candidates for the new coach of the national team. As a legend in Chilean football, Vidal expressed his views on this.
Vidal said: "I don't like Cordoba, he's not ready to coach the national team. Our team doesn't have a clear idea, and there's no reasonable way to attack and defend."
"Pellegrini is always mentioned, but I don't think he's the right person. He has never worked with a Chilean player, and I've never seen him lead a team to any national team event. Ideally, it's a link between former players, coaching staff and management, but it's hard to achieve in Chile."
