Each team: Barcelona and Spotify meet in Newcastle, and both sides discuss future sponsorship matters
According to "Everything", the Barcelona club met with Spotify in Newcastle, and the two sides discussed future sponsorship matters.
Barcelona Chairman Laporta held informal talks with representatives of the US company, and middleman Darren Dean and Spotify marketing head Mark Hazan were also present.
Both sides are feeling good at the moment, this is Spotify's fourth year as a sponsor of men's and women's first-team jerseys and the last year of existing contracts. However, both parties hope that the cooperative relationship can continue. The platform has reportedly expressed hope to the club for another four years and has made a decision by the July 1 deadline.
In the first few seasons, the agreement brought €57.5 million in annual revenue to the game jerseys, and an additional €5 million for training equipment. Although the second contract expired on June 30, the brand logo still appears on the training suit as both parties are adjusting the details.
According to a renewal option reached in 2022, the cost of chest advertising space will be increased to €65 million per year starting from the 2026/27 season. If expanded to the position on the training suit, the distribution is as follows: 10 million euros on the chest, 5 million euros behind, or 15 million euros on the two positions together.
This informal meeting in Newcastle confirmed the good relationship between the two sides and showed that both sides have a desire to continue to cooperate. For Barcelona, renewal means stability and better planning. For Spotify, continuing to work with the club can ensure its global reach and a strong publicity platform. Therefore, this meeting is another step towards renewal.
Although there are still some details to be finalized, the intentions of both parties are very clear. If all goes well, Spotify will continue to stay on Barcelona's jersey on more favorable terms, which will be beneficial to both sides.
