EVERYBODY: De la Fuente and the Spanish Football Federation give different accounts of Olmo s injury
"Daily Sports" reported that Spanish coach De La Fuente and the Spanish Football Association had different opinions on Olmo's injury.
At the post-match press conference against Georgia, De La Fuente said: "Olmo came to the national team in perfect condition, without any medical report, he was only slightly unwell. He did not train throughout the week, hoping that the injury would get better, but in the end the discomfort worsened. Out of consideration for his health and safety, we decided to let him leave the training camp because we knew it would be difficult for him to catch up with the next game. If we could confirm that he could participate without risk, he would have stayed."
However, the Spanish Football Team The Association's medical announcement clearly mentioned that the Barcelona player was already feeling unwell when he arrived at the national team training camp. The announcement read: "Olmo had symptoms of muscle fatigue when he arrived at the training camp last Monday, as reported by the Barcelona club. Since then, the symptoms have gradually improved through treatment and load management. Therefore, the original plan was for the player to only participate in part of the scheduled training today, but he reported discomfort in the muscles of his left leg during training."
There is no doubt that Olmo and the Barcelona club were still injured in this incident. The player returned to Barcelona at noon on Saturday and will undergo further tests on Monday to determine the extent of the gastrocnemius injury in his left leg. He is expected to be sidelined for three to four weeks.
