Italian football reporter Filippo Biavola said Roma hopes to sign defender Girardi by next Monday.

Filippo Biarfola said on social media: "This morning (July 25), Rome and Verona held new talks on Girardi's transfer. There is no agreement yet, but the goal of Rome's club is to complete the transaction by next Monday. The method is to strengthen the purchase of players on loan."

22-year-old Girardi is an Italian central defender and made 24 appearances in Serie A last season. Previous reports said that Girardi had agreed to the contract issued by Rome and waited for the two clubs to reach an agreement.
